Ever since humans started to live in cities, we had some urge to keep part of leafy nature inside our houses. Houseplants have been part of our homes for centuries, and there are very good reasons for it. Usually we think that decoration is the only reason to bring them in, but there are also hidden benefits to consider as well. So, here are some of those reasons that will make you put a pot in every room.
1. Allows you to breathe easier
Unless you slept on you biology class in elementary school, you know that plants a process called photosynthesis. During this process, plants take carbon-dioxide and release oxygen. During the night, the photosynthesis stops, and plants then reverse their breathing scheme. But some awesome plants, like orchids and succulents, don’t do this – they keep releasing oxygen even at night. This perk makes them ideal candidates for houseplants in bedrooms to keep oxygen flowing at night.
