Bread has been a standard food for generations. On its own, bread is nothing special, since it simply adds to the bulk in combination with other foods. Sure, a slice with butter is better than nothing, but it simply isn’t enough for an adult human. It can make other foods taste a bit better, but it would seem it is overpricing the service. And when you consider these bread nutritional facts, you will feel quite ripped off, and should ditch it entirely from your diet.
1. It lacks nutrients
Bread is often referred to as poor man’s food, being easy and cheap to make. It is nearly not as nutritious as other food, like fish, egg, fruit or meat. Most of its vitamins and minerals are lost during refining period, leaving you with a mere lining for other food, like butter. Not only that, but whole wheat grain also reduces the absorption of other nutrients. Its phytic acid blocks minerals such as iron, calcium and zinc, and gluten damages intestinal lining so even less nutrients are taken in.
